Dr. George Metz to share 'Kiwi Experience' on March 30
Education in New Zealand will be the topic of a Bluffton University colloquium at 4 p.m. Friday, March 30, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall.
Dr. George Metz, chair of Bluffton's education department and its Division of Education and Sport Science, will discuss "Transforming Teacher Education through Global Connections: The Kiwi Experience." His presentation is free and open to the public.
The Bluffton professor will reflect on his visit to an elementary, middle school and high school in Auckland, New Zealand, last year. He will look at science and math rankings worldwide, then focus on teacher preparation in New Zealand and its national model for success from a national curriculum.
Metz will also note opportunities to learn from the island nation's teacher education, which addresses creativity and collaboration across grade levels.
