Bluffton High School students connect with students in Congo in Monday videoconference program
Students from Bluffton High School will connect with their peers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a part of an interactive videoconference program at 9 a.m. Monday, April 23, according to Molly Levine, Communications Manager of Global Nomads Group.
This is part of a series of live-dialogue videoconference that are part of a social entrepreneur program that allows the students to learn business skills while raising awareness and funds.
Global Nomads Group
Global Nomads Group (GNG) is an international NGO whose mission is to foster dialogue and understanding among the world's youth. GNG engages and empowers young people worldwide using media, including: interactive videoconferencing, webcasting, social networking, gaming, and participatory filmmaking.
GNG operates at the intersection of international and peace education, striving to serve as a vehicle for awareness, bridging the boundaries of cultural misconceptions and instilling in its audience a heightened appreciation and comprehension of the world in which they live.
GNG's current portfolio includes semester and year-long virtual exchange programs between students in the US and peers in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
In addition, GNG offers The PULSE, a weekly series of programs that bring together students from around North America to discuss and debate international issues in a virtual "town-hall" setting.
History
Founded in 1998, by Jonathan Giesen, David Macquart, Christopher Plutte and Mark von Sponeck - the organization has conducted programming in more than 50 countries on all seven continents, reaching more than one million young people.
GNG's work has been featured in media outlets that include CNN, Good Morning America, the Today Show, the New York Times, People, and Education Week.
