Memorial service in June for Jean Triplett, community leader

Lois Jean Hoover Triplett of Bluffton, Ohio, died on Friday, May 4, 2012. She was born in Rittman, Ohio, on Oct. 18, 1926, the daughter of Lloyd and Zelda Hoover. She was a 1947 graduate of Bluffton College. On July 18, 1948, she married M. Morris Triplett, who predeceased her in 1996.

In addition to raising her family, Mrs. Triplett engaged in many projects supporting the Bluffton community, and worked for social justice through many venues, particularly through the United Presbyterian Church at local, state and national levels.

She held the office of president of the Ohio Council of Churches for a one-year term. She was named the Bluffton Ohio Lion's Club's Citizen of the Year, and was recently named as a recipient of Bluffton University's Lifetime Service Award, its top alumni honor.

Mrs. Triplet is survived by her three sisters, Marlys Smith of Wooster, Ohio, Marjorie Collier of Canton, Ohio, and Phyllis Hostetler of Orrville, Ohio, by many nieces and nephews, and by her sons, Timm of North Andover, Massachusetts, and Tomm of Fort Wayne, Indiana, her daughter, Letitia of Cincinnati Ohio, her daughter-in-law Donna Slonim and her grandson, Daniel Triplett, both of North Andover, Massachusetts.

A memorial service will be held at the Bluffton United Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Members of her family will accept, on her behalf, the Bluffton University Lifetime Service Award at Marbeck Center on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012.
