It's time to "Play Ball!" - t-ball at BFR that is

With the summer fast approaching, the Bluffton Family Recreation hosts a t-ball league starting in July for youth ages 5-7 to join and have fun with other youths their own age.
"We have a class right now, just the kids learning how to play t-ball before this summer, which is a league this summer where they play games and have scrimmages," said Maranda Miller of BFR.
The league starts on Thursday, July 5, but classes for t-ball are already under way with other classes and scrimmages being played leading up to the start of the league.
"Sign-up for the t-ball league is starting right now actually, leading up until the week before the league," Miller said.
Teams are a mixture of both boys and girls with girls aging from 5 through 7 years of age and ages 5 and 6 for boys.
"We usually have up to six teams," Miller said. "Some years you get a couple more kids and some years it's a little bit lower, it just depends on the demand at the time."
The t-ball league is a five-week season in July and early August that plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. Anyone who fits the age requirements is more than welcome to attend even outside of Bluffton.
"We usually get teams from schools in Bluffton, other schools can send their kids too if they want, we certainly don't discourage that," Miller said.
Fees for the t-ball are $15 for members of BFR and $30 for non-members.
"The games are played out in our village park," Miller said. "During the first 15 minutes, the kids do drills with their teams and then they scrimmage with the other team. Each kid gets to bat and it is a good experience for them."
