Darrell E. Kent 1934-2012
Darrell E. Kent, 77, died at 1:01 a.m. May 14, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Uniopolis to Russell and Dorothy Miller Kent, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 7, 1955, he married D. Jacqueline Sampson, who survives in Ada.
Mr. Kent retired as a machinist from General Dynamics, Lima, and ran his own shoe repair shop in Ada. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Ada. He was a graduate of Waynesfield High School. He had served as chief of the Ada Fire Department.
Survivors also include two sons, Lonny Kent, of Bluffton, and Bill Kent, of Ada; a daughter, Deb (Dave) Lybarger, of Delta; seven grandchildren, Bryan (Jenny) Kent, Casandra (fianc'e Joe Bennett) Kent, Candice (Vanny) Vang, Angie Lybarger, Jennifer (Rick) Fejis, Chris Lybarger and Branden Kent; a great-grandson, Bradley Wentz; a brother, Rolland (Marty) Kent, of Wapakoneta; and a sister, Darlene (John) Kohler, of Paulding.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Bryan Kent; and a brother, Dean Kent.
It was his wish to be cremated. A memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Ada. Pastor Jack Duffy will officiate.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
