Clyde Hartman was a Navy vet and graduate of Mt. Cory High School
Clyde W. Hartman, 88, of Bluffton died at 6:15 p.m. July 14, 2012, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Orange Township to Wilbur and Alberta Basinger Hartman. On June 1, 1947 he married Mary Alice Ream and she survives.
Mr. Hartman was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a wood carver and enjoyed making toys. He was a member of the Bethel Church of Christ, Ada, where he served as an elder for many years and was also a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir and a men's quartet. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. He was a 1942 Mt. Cory High School graduate and a WWII Navy Veteran.
Survivors also include a son, David (Maria) Hartman of Bluffton, a daughter, Linda (James) Tanzimore of Edmond, Okla., 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Hartman and a brother, Daryl Hartman.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Church of Christ, Ada. Revs. Harrison Underwood and David Underwood will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Thompson Cemetery, Bluffton.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Church of Christ. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com
