Coral Lamb balancing family, work, school and everything else
Where were you born?
I was born in San Antonio, Texas and lived there and in Corpus Christie for a while. I moved to Ohio when I started Kindergarten. My family is originally from Putnam County.
How long have you lived in Bluffton? Who was the first person you met in Bluffton?
I have lived here and gone to Bluffton schools all my life. My kids go here now and I love this school system. I have lived here for 26 years. The first people I can think of meeting when I came here from Texas would be Destiny and Andrea Hudson and their family.
Tell me about your family.
My husband, Nathan, is from Columbus Grove. We met when we were in middle school at the Grove Skateland, which his family, Larry and Gary Clymer, owned. We never really hung out or anything until we were both adults. We have four children, Dylan 14, who plays trombone and was recently in Jazz Band in 8th grade. He is also in 4H. Jeremy is 10 and plays football, soccer, and his favorite is wrestling. Avery is 6 and is the most energetic child I know. Camryn is 3 and is the sweetheart. We have one Siamese cat named Moe.
You're now working at the recently-opened Willow Ridge. What do you enjoy about your job there?
I love Willow Ridge because it is a place where our elders can go when they need extra care, but makes them feel at ease. It really feels like home. Every detail about the building and the people is personal, and each resident can call it home and can make their own decisions without someone deciding for them. I really feel this new concept is the way of the future and everyone deserves to live with love and dignity.
I hear you're also enrolled in school. Two degrees at once?
I started my Business Administration degree doing the One Night A Week program at Rhodes. I also am working on getting my RN. Business is something that really intrigues me. I like to know the why and how of what makes an organization work. I like to be a contributing factor. I also want to get my RN because I feel I have so much more to learn as a nurse. I was inspired to do both by one of my Management professors, Diane Cook, who has her MBA and BSN. There are so many options in both fields. I'm not sure what the future holds.
How do you manage family, work and school?
It is a hard balance, I rely heavily on my supportive husband. I sleep but I'm sure not enough!
What do you enjoy doing with your family?
I enjoy just relaxing at home with my family. If we have time I like to take them to new places. Anything new is always fun.
How do you spend your free time?
My free time consists of me staying awake after everyone is asleep and reading the paper or making to do lists. I oddly enjoy that.
What was the last movie you saw? What movie would you like to get a refund for?
The last movie I saw was Skyfall. I loved it and am ready for a new one to come out. I would like my money back for Where the Wild Things Are. Good book, bad movie.
What book would you like to read? A favorite book?
I really want to find time to read The Shack. One of the most intriguing books I have read is Strengthsfinder 2.0. I highly recommend it.
Where would you like to be in 10 years?
In 10 years I hope to be happy, healthy, and proud of the children I have raised with my husband. I also hope to do some relief work in less fortunate areas.
