Completed watershed action plan for Riley Creek delayed
A completed watershed action plan for Riley Creek was moved from January 2011 to December 2011, according Nancy Benroth, Bluffton's representative on the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership. The partnership met in late February.
The plan was moved because of the additional work needed to implement portions of the project.
Benroth said that all landowners have been identified. Putnam County does not have their records on-line so 80% of the landowners had to be identified through court records at the Court House. Printed letters with return envelopes will be going out at the end of this week to landowners.
The watershed partnership is organizing several stream cleanups this spring. Benroth hopes to arrange a cleanup of the Riley in Bluffton. It is possible that the group may target an area of the Little Riley through Bluffton University's campus as a cleanup area this spring. No date has been set.
