Swartzlander's talk to address temp labor, financial performance
Dr. Jason Swartzlander, an assistant professor of accounting at Bluffton University, will discuss “Temporary Labor and Financial Performance: Parallels between Manufacturing and Higher Education” in an April 19 campus colloquium.
Free and open to the public, his presentation will begin at 4 p.m. in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall.
Swartzlander, who recently earned his doctorate from Anderson University, will report on his dissertation research. He found that using temporary workers as part of a workforce strategy helped the U.S. manufacturing sector become more productive and more profitable from 2007-10.
He will also explore any parallels that might exist between the use of temporary workers in the manufacturing setting and the use of adjunct instructors in higher education.
