15 minutes with Jerrod Amstutz
The last we talked you were student of the month at BHS in May. What's happened in your life since then?
Well, I graduated! Then during my summer break I went to France with Ebenezer Mennonite Church for two great weeks. I absolutely would love to go back. I also worked my second year at Camp Roberts in Shawnee, which is a free Bible camp for inner city Lima kids. I then started to attend Ohio Northern University.
Do you live on campus?
I live on campus in Park Hall and my roommate is Austin Marquart, who also is from the BHS class of '09.
What was the worst movie you ever saw (would like your money back)?
The worst movie I ever saw was Dance Flick. I went with a group of friends. I seriously thought I was getting dumber as it continued.
What's the most amazing thing you've learned about college, as compared to high school?
That there is more than one person of each type. For example, everybody has friends. Everyone finds someone with similar interests, hobbies and personalities, which makes me happy.
What's the most expensive book you've had buy at ONU?
My NEXOS Spanish book. I paid $150 for the book and another $100 for the online version.
Let's see, can you reveal any prank you were in on in school that you may now confess to?
Well...I once stole Ms. Blair's coffee mug then returned it to her in a frozen solid dome of Jello. I also was involved in turning everything in Mrs. Lovell's room backwards.
If you had an extra $500 what would you do with it, unrelated to any college bills, that is?
Well, I have a clunker for a car, not that $500 would get me anything better, but I would put it toward a car, just something to get me from A to B without worries.
Who is the most famous person you ever met, and tell us about the circumstances of the meeting?
The most famous person I ever met was Julia Nunes, a popular ukulelest from YouTube. Two of my sisters and a couple of friends and I drove to Knoxville, Tennessee, - six hours - to see her in concert and afterward we had the chance to get her autograph and a picture.
Now for something serious. Where do you hope to be in 10 years?
Wow...I hope to have completed my education (and passed) to become a middle school teacher. I wish to have a job and my own classroom. I would also like to go back to France. I made many friends who I consider really close... possibly married but who knows. I like good ole' Bluffton so I plan on living here or near. But, God only knows.
