Dorothy Williams taught school for 38 years; volunteered with many organizations
Dorothy Williams, 94, of Bluffton died at 2:50 p.m. April 2, 2014, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster. She was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Pandora to the late Christian and Clara Suter Locher.
Mrs. Williams was a retired teacher and guidance counselor, having been an educator for 38 years, the last 26 with Lima Public Schools. She also taught in Colorado, Wyoming, Washington, Nevada and American Dependent Schools of Japan.
She was a graduate of Ohio State University and received her master's degree from the University of Toledo. Her retirement activities included being a docent at the Allen County Museum for over 20 years, volunteering at the Et Cetera Shop, Bluffton, a member of the AAUW, the Shakespeare Study Club, a bridge club and several professional organizations. She attended quite a number of Elderhostels in the United States and Mexico. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Bluffton.
Survivors include two sons, James D. Williams of Albuquerque, N.M., Ronald J (Benita) Williams of Orrville, and two grandchildren, John and Roberta Williams. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eula Fett and Alice Neuenschwander.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. April 26, at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Revs. Louise Wideman and Steven Yoder will officiate. Burial of the cremated remains will be at 9:30 a.m. April 26 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
