Funeral service Aug. 26 for retired Bluffton business woman JoAnn Bender
JoAnn Bender, 84, of Bluffton died Aug. 22, 2014, at 7:55 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born Sept. 8, 1929, in Fostoria to Clarence and Mildred Seitz Brunn. On Aug. 4, 1948 she married Robert F. Bender and he preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2011.
Mrs. Bender was the owner of JoAnn's Beauty Shop, Bluffton for over 15 years. She then joined her husband as owners of A-Z Portion Control Meats, Bluffton. She was an active music booster supporter. She was a graduate of Lima Senior High School.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Jo (Terry) Strahm of Mt. Cory, Lee Ann (Tom) Kagy of Bluffton, Lois Jean (Robert) Bender-Nichelson of Harrod, Leslie Marie Bender Barnes of Bluffton, 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Mike) Picklesimer, Jessica Strahm, Sean ( Jennifer) Kagy, Seth (Julie) Kagy, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Thornton, TJ Warren, Robert (Adrianne) Warren, Madison Barnes, Ellis Barnes, Olivia Barnes, 12 great-grandchildren, Joshua Basinger, Jordin Basinger, Noah Strahm, Christian Kagy, Alexandra Kagy, Skylar Kagy, Greyson Kagy, Alexis Thornton, Zavier Thornton, Hutch Warren, Tracen Warren, Josephine Warren, a brother, Fredrick Brunn of Bluffton and two sisters, Jean Perrine of Lima and Marilyn (Alvin) Osting of Troy.
Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Tom Kagy will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
Friends may call Monday, 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandot County Humane Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
