Saturday night Bluffton Pirates welcomed Western Reserve Academy to Harmon Field. After a 1-7 start Bluffton earned a big win - with suprising ease - with unified team effort against Western Reserve who was 5-1 before this game. BHS won 61-13.
Western Reserve Academy showed that could run the ball early in the 1st quarter with a 4 yard touchdown run. Point after kick was good 7-0 Western Reserve lead.
For the Pirates, Clay Wilson punched in a 6 yard touchdown run. Point after kick by Kaleb Jefferson was good BHS tied the game 7-7 in the 1st quarter.
Western Reserve Academy opened the 2nd quarter with a 74 yard burst up the field from the tailback for a touchdown. Point after kick was no good Reserve regained the lead 13-7.
The Pirates responded with a 29 yard touchdown pass from Mitchell Ault to Austin Bricker. Point after kick by Jefferson was good. 14-13 Bluffton lead.
Ault connected with Bricker again this time for a 46 yard touchdown. Point after kick was good 21-14 Bluffton.
Dustin Falk found his way into the end zone with a 46 yard run. Point after kick by Jefferson was good BHS added to their lead 28-13.
the Pirates scored five more touchdowns in the game, each of the five were scored by different players. All together Bluffton High school had seven different players score at least one touchdown.
Touchdowns were credited to Clay Wilson (2) Austin Bricker (2), Dustin Falk (1), Kaleb Jefferson (1), Brady Basinger (1), Dylan Alt (1), and Mitchell Ault threw for 3 touchdowns all together.
Quarterback Mitchell Ault was 12 for 19 throwing for 224 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Clay Wilson led the rushing attack for the Pirates with 14 carries for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kaleb Jefferson had 8 carries for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dustin Falk and Brady Basinger also added 1 rushing touchdown each.
Austin Bricker led his receiving core with 7 receptions for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, Kaleb Jefferson led the pack with 6 tackles followed by his teammate Dylan Alt with 6 tackles and 1 interception.
Dustin Falk also created a turnover with 1 interception. Kaleb Jefferson was 7 for 7 on extra-point kicks. Bluffton will host Paulding at Harmon Field Friday at 7:30 p.m.
