BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University junior Thayne Recker (Arlington) has been named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week following his performances in victories over HCAC rivals Defiance and Transylvania.
The Team of the Week presented by Scoutware is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll, in its 17th season of recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week for both the men and women of Division III.
Recker led Bluffton to a perfect 2-0 mark in HCAC action, including a stunning 70-68 upset of Defiance on Wednesday night after trailing by 16 points. The standout post, who had just seven points at halftime on Wednesday, went off for 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting in the second stanza and played all but 25 seconds in the game. His 34 points established a new career-high. Recker also pulled down 13 boards in the victory.
He finished the week with 48 points (24.0 PPG) and 22 rebounds (11.0 RPG). Recker dished out four assists and was a perfect 8-of-8 at the line in Saturday's win over Transy. For the week, Recker was 15-of-29 (51.7 percent) from the field and 18-of-23 (78.3 percent) at the stripe.
