Serious two-vehicle accident closes Grove Road at SR 696
Bluffton police, fire and EMS were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Columbus Grove Road and State Route 696.
Several injuries resulted and a Life Flight helicopter from the Bluffton Airport landed on 696 anticipating flying an injured person to an area hospital.

It appeared that the one vehicle struck the other in the intersection. One vehicle was in the ditch and the other was on its side on the highway pavement.
Not all of the passengers were able to get out of the vehicle on its side. A team of workers appeared to have Jaws of Life-type equipment working to free one or more passengers.
In addition to Bluffton, Putnam County EMS was on the scene as was Beaverdam-Richland Township fire and EMS and Ottawa fire department.
By 9:30 p.m. EMS vehicles took two persons involved in the accident while workers continued to attempt to free persons who were still trapped in the overturned vehicle.
Both 696 and Grove Road were closed to traffic at the intersection when the Icon left the scene at about 10 p.m.
