Leland Garmatter was a Korean War veteran
Leland Robert Garmatter, 82, died Aug. 21, 2015, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
Leland was born March 20, 1933 in Bluffton to Gideon and Mable (Burkholder) Garmatter who preceded him in death. On Oct. 31, 1959 he married Sandra Bassitt Garmatter who survives.
Leland retired from Lima Ford Engine Plant. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors also include five children Jacqui (Mel) Benroth of Columbus Grove, Scott (Kim) Garmatter of Bluffton, Eric (Julie) Garmatter of Bluffton, Jill (Tony) Rumer of Bluffton, Curt Garmatter of Bluffton; 15 grandchildren Ryan (Liz) Benroth, Jacob Garmatter, Joshua Garmatter, Adrian, Bret and Averey Rumer, Baylor Garmatter, Brinkley Garmatter, Laykin Garmatter, Klarissa Garmatter, Kalyn Garmatter, Karsyn Garmatter, Cade Garmatter, Darby (Jen) Benroth and Jori (Ryan) Shoemaker; five great grandchildren Owen and Addie Shoemaker, Bodey, Barrett and Ayden Benroth; and three siblings Mary Jane (Charles) Sallaska of Denver, Colorado, Maurice (Eileen) Garmatter of Bluffton and Rachel Radabaugh of Columbus Grove.
Leland was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Garmatter, and a brother-in-law, Robert Radabaugh.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday Aug. 24, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. Pastor Jeremy Mann officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ or Bridge Hospice.
