Community garage sale registration deadline extended
The registration deadline for the second Bluffton Community Garage Sale has been extended to July 22. The previous deadline was July 17. The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library are sponsoring this event as one of their major fundraisers for the year.
"We hope members of Bluffton will clean out their closets and garages and offer their no longer needed furniture, books, toys, kitchen items, antiques, canning jars, clothes, and appliances for sale Aug 5 and 6 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Aug. 7 from 8 p.m. until the seller wishes to close," said Janis Potter of the Friends."
School and college are about to start. Gently used kids clothes and furniture, kitchen ware and microwaves for college dorms or apartments should be hot items this time of year," she added.
The Community Garage Sale is an important fundraiser for the Friends of the Bluffton Public Library. Its mission is to provide financial support to the library so that it can maintain its current services and programs. The State of Ohio cut almost 30% of the library's funding this past year so our help is really needed.
Examples of support from the Friends include helping to purchase the movie license to show recent movie releases in the library, donating $1000 for books, and bringing Christie Weineger Raber to Bluffton performing as Jane Austen.
The Friends provide the bulk of the funding for the youth programs, This includes the Teen Board, Story Time, and the Summer Reading Program along with other activities throughout the year. The Friend will also be helping with the library's 75th anniversary celebration.
