BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Franklin College women's soccer team stayed atop the HCAC leaderboard with a 7-1 victory over Bluffton University on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016. Bluffton slipped to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin improved to 10-2 and a perfect 3-0 in the HCAC.
The Grizzlies went up 3-0 less than 25 minutes into the contest, but Bluffton's resolve remained firm as that was the score when the two teams headed to the lockers at the break.
The visitors pushed their cushion to 6-0 early in period two before junior Brittany Huff (Union/Northmont) uncorked one from deep in minute 72. Franklin tacked on a goal less than a minute later for a 7-1 victory over the Beavers.
Huff paced the offense with three shots, including two on frame. Freshman Courtney Davis (Richmond, MI/Richmond) piled up 11 saves for the home team. Franklin put up 29 shots, to just four for the Beavers. The Grizzlies forced seven more corner kicks (8-1) and were whistled for four more fouls (8-4).
Bluffton is back at the Sears Complex on Wednesday, Oct. 12, when the Beavers welcome Mount St. Joseph for a 3:30 p.m. HCAC showdown.
