Joanna Gratz is a Trades of Hope partner
Bluffton resident, Joanna Gratz, is now a partner with Trades of Hope, a mission-based company, as a Compassionate Entrepreneur (CE).
Trades of Hope is a fair-trade certified company that empowers women around the world out of abuse, trafficking, and extreme poverty by creating sustainable business opportunities for them.
Currently, they partner with artisan groups from 16 different countries, including two artisan groups in the United States. While they predominantly have jewelry items, their inventory also includes home décor, scarves, and handbags, as well as items for men and children.
“We are not a charity; but rather have a dignified, business partnership with each of our artisans, allowing us to build a relationship with them to learn their stories and meet their needs,” she said.
“With each necklace, bracelet, or bag that I sell—I think of the woman who made it who can now provide food for her family, send her children to school, and even be able to receive basic medical care.”
