Math competition for high school students

Bluffton University’s mathematics department will host its annual math competition for high school students on Saturday, Nov. 3, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.

The test consists of short-answer questions covering high school math topics through pre-calculus. Fifteen cash prizes will be awarded, and test scores of seniors considering attending Bluffton may be used to award renewable scholarships of up to $1,000 per year. Scholarship awards will be offered by January 2019.

Each high school may register up to 15 students, with registration to be limited to the first 100 students. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 30. Students may register online, and find previous questions, answers and solutions, by visiting http://www.bluffton.edu/math/contest/

A complimentary lunch will be provided for students, teacher and parents, and campus tours can be scheduled on the same day. A separate program will be offered for parents and teachers who accompany contest participants.
