Ada police break up counterfeit ring

FROM ADA ICON - Ada police broke up a counterfeit ring in Ada on Wednesday, (Aug. 21), according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

The police issued the following report:

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, at approximately 3 p.m., officers of the Ada Police Department executed a search warrant at 102 ½ N. Main St., Apartment 5, Ada, as part of an on-going investigation into the passing of counterfeit money.

Upon executing the warrant, the tenant and subject of this investigation was not home, however officers did recover approximately $50,000 in counterfeit currency along with items believed to have been purchased with counterfeit currency.

The subject was later discovered in Kenton, where he was placed into custody.  Arrested was Deyond Markus Marvin White, currently residing in Ada.

White is being charged with possessing counterfeit money with additional charges likely.  Due to the amount of counterfeit money on hand, White may be charged with a Felony of the 3rd Degree.

The Ada Police Department was assisted by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service.
