Shannon Freshour calls on Rep. Jordan to quarantine
In the wake of President Donald Trump’s announcement that he and the First Lady have tested positive for COVID-19, Democrat Shannon Freshour is calling on Rep. Jim Jordan to quarantine in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) given the Congressman’s close proximity to the President.
“Preventing the continued spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s responsibility. Each of us must act as though we could be an asymptomatic carrier. In that vein, I strongly urge Representative Jordan to take proper precautions and quarantine while he waits for his test results.
"Per the CDC guidelines, anyone who might have been exposed to the virus is to stay home and away from others for 14 days following the potential transmission,” said Shannon Freshour who is challenging Rep. Jim Jordan for his congressional seat.
“It’s especially crucial that he follow these guidelines and make it publicly known to the people of Ohio and this nation. If our elected official is at risk for COVID-19 and ignoring CDC policies, what type of message is he sending to our children? We must show the nation that the State of Ohio is ready and willing to combat COVID-19.”
Rep. Jordan has publicly said he plans to take a COVID-19 test, but, in light of his potential exposure, he has not expressed any intention to quarantine as he awaits results. Rep. Jordan has been a vocal critic of COVID-19 relief efforts and has refused to comply with CDC policy on wearing a mask in public.
