BHS jumps to 20-6 first period lead

BLUFFTON - The host Bluffton girls basketball team raced to a big early lead and convincingly defeated North Baltimore 50-33 in non-conference action Tuesday night.
The Lady Pirates jumped to a 20-6 first period lead and held a 30-18 cushion at intermission. They extended the margin to 39-22 after three periods and cruised to the victory.
Bluffton improved its record to 4-3 overall with the win. The Tiger girls dropped to 3-2 with the defeat.
Sami Scoles led the victors with 13 points. Junior post Kylie Stackhouse tallied 11 points.
Laykin Garmatter and Kylie Monday each contributed seven points.
Riley Eachus added six points on two treys.
Hailey Lennard topped NB with 10 points, while Grace Hagemyer added eight markers.
The Pirate girls connected on 20 field goals, 15 including two-pointers and five triples. Bluffton converted five of nine free throw attempts (56 percent).
The Lady Tigers sank 13 field goals, hitting 10 two-pointers and three shots from three-point land. NB canned four of eight foul shots (50 percent).

Bluffton (1-1 NWC) plays at tough Crestview (4-1, 1-1 NWC) in a conference bout Thursday, Dec. 17. The Pirate girls are 0-2 on the road and 4-1 at home this season.
