15 minutes with Lily Shadle
Interviewed by Derek Swartzlander
Icon: You graduated from Bluffton in 2019. What have you been doing since then?
Lily: I have been attending Ohio Northern University for pharmacy.
What are your goals after you graduate?
Lily: Right now my only real goal is to make my way through pharmacy school. Eventually, after that I would like to get married one day and start my own family.
What do you do when you aren’t working on schoolwork?
Lily: When I do have free time I am usually hanging out with my family, being active in my church, and reading a good book.
What kind of books do you like to read? Do you have any favorites?
Lily: I read almost all genres of books: fantasy, sci-di, historical diction, mysteries, etc. My favorite stand alone novel is Mark Zusak’s The Book Thief, but I also really like Tolkien’s The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
Was there a teacher at Bluffton who really inspired you?
Lily: I feel like all of my teachers at Bluffton have really helped shape me and make me the person I am today, each will have a place in my heart in their own way. They inspired me to always do my best, work hard and be kind.
What advice do you have for today’s high schoolers?
Lily: My advice to high schoolers is to take life one day at a time. Especially right now with the pandemic nothing seems certain and it is best not to stress too much over it, just keep on breathing.
Thanks for stopping by for an interview. We look forward to what you do in the future.
