Dennis Miller 1926-2021

Dennis Lloyd Miller, 94, died August 16, 2021, at his home in Bluffton, Ohio.  He was born December 2, 1926 near Cairo, to Edward and Reva (Rone) Miller.

On October 22, 1950, he married Delores Pat Dunlap.  She survives in Bluffton.

Denny is survived by his children, Diane (Steve) Poehler, Barb Watson, Cheryl (Matthew) Moulds and Randy (Nicki) Miller; grandchildren, Angela (Weston) Corogin, Nathan Poehler, Andrew (Brittany) Poehler, Sarah Beth (Geoffrey) Buck, Jennifer Hill, Lisa (Chris) Lookenott, Chelsea E. Vieri and Kimberly (Andrew) O’Leary; great grandchildren, Bryce Hill, Maddison Hill, Lily Lookenott, Jameson Poehler and Jackson Poehler; sister in-law, Kay Miller along with many dear nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lee, great grandson, Ames Buck and two brothers, Dale (Ruth) Miller and Howard Miller.

Denny had attended Vaughnsville School thru his sophomore year, at which time his family moved to Medina, Ohio, where he graduated from Medina High School. His degree was “Hard Knocks” depression living – when you worked, you got paid – he did everything he could.

He had worked at many manufacturing jobs, starting as a supervisor and working his way up to a C.O.O. of a large company.   In addition to being a businessman he enjoyed buying and selling things: cars, boats, farm machinery, you name it.  Denny was foremost a family man, wintering in Ellenton, Florida.  They took yearly family vacations fishing in Little Current, Ontario, Canada.  He enjoyed family trips yearly all over the U.S. as well as trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, U.K. South America, Asia and Australia.

Denny was a realist, some of his quotes included, “Can’t died in the cornfield”, “DWYSYWD” Read it backwards or forward – “Do what you say you will do”. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.  Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Larry Seawell officiating.  Burial will follow at Ottawa River Cemetery, Rimer.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas and his staff from The Armes Family Cancer Center and Hospice for their care and support during Denny’s courageous 3 year battle with stomach cancer.
