Lady Pirates edge Bath

The host Bluffton girls soccer team staved off Bath for a 2-1 non-league victory Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Pirate kickers evened their record at 1-1 with the first win of the season. Bath fell to 0-3 with the defeat.

Bluffton's Sami Scoles scored the first goal of the game in the 26th minute on an assist from Reagan Mittendorf.

The game stayed 1-0 into halftime, and remained that way for the first 33 minutes of the second half.

Allison Diller then scored the second Lady Pirate goal in the 74th minute on an assist from Ella Armstrong to give the hosts a 2-0 edge.

Bath's Karlie Wallace netted the lone Bath goal in the 78th minute, but Bluffton held on for the win in the final two minutes.

The Pirates put five of their six shots on goal. Bath aimed six of its nine shots on target.

Bluffton goalkeeper Julia Mehaffie was credited with 13 saves.

The defending league champion Pirate girls host Northwest Conference foe Spencerville Monday, August 30 at 6:45 p.m.
