Mittendorf hat trick lifts Bluffton girls past Jefferson
The visiting Bluffton girls soccer team defeated Delphos Jefferson 4-1 in Northwest Conference action Monday night, September 13.
Reagan Mittendorf netted three goals and assisted on the other Lady Pirate score to carry the Bluffton offense.
The Pirate girl kickers improved their record to 5-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the NWC after the league win. DJ fell to 1-4-3 and 0-2-1 in NWC play with the defeat.
Mittendorf started the scoring with a goal in the fourth minute off an assist by Allison Diller. The reigning league Player of the Year then tallied her second goal in the final minute before halftime to build the Pirate lead to 2-0 at intermission.
Mittendorf authored her third goal unassisted to complete the hat trick in the 51st minute to extend the margin to 3-0.
DJ's Alyson Lindeman scored the lone Wildcat goal in the 69th minute to slice the Bluffton lead to 3-1.
But a minute later, Marley Kindle found the back of the net on a Mittendorf assist to rebuild the lead to its final margin of three goals.
The Pirate offense fired 57 shots, 23 of which were on goal. The Wildcats mustered just six shots against the Bluffton defense, three of which were on goal.
Pirate goalkeeper Julia Mehaffie was credited with three saves, while the Wildcat keeper made 17 stops.
The Bluffton girls play at backyard league rival Allen East (1-1-2, 0-0-2 NWC) Tuesday, Sept. 21.
