Rose-Hulman too much for Bluffton in Sunday sweep
The Bluffton University volleyball team came up on the wrong end of a 3-0 sweep at Rose-Hulman on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021. Bluffton fell to 9-17 overall and 1-6 in the Heartland Conference, while Rose improved to 11-14 and 2-5 in the HCAC.
RHIT pulled out a couple tight sets, 25-22 and 25-21, before putting the hammer down with a 25-8 whitewashing in set three.
Junior Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) continued her impressive season with eight kills against just one error for a .333 hitting percentage. Senior Cassidy Posey (Paulding) put down seven kills of her own, also with just one hitting error.
Elle Price (Pocono Pines, PA/Findlay) handed out a team-best 15 assists. Leading the Beavers with 18 digs was senior Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf). Price and Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) chipped in with 11 digs, while Campbell and Alysha Like (McComb) were in on four blocks apiece. Posey added three block assists and Weekley fired both of Bluffton's aces.
Bluffton will welcome Defiance College for its home finale on Wednesday, Oct. 27. The first serve with the rival Yellow Jackets is slated for 6:30 p.m. in the Sommer Center.
