BHS softball shut out by Elida

The Bluffton High School varsity softball team was blanked 5-0 by visiting Elida Monday evening. The Pirate girls dropped to 0-4 with the non-league defeat.
The game was scoreless until the third inning, when Elida broke the tie to grab a 1-0 lead.
The visitors then plated three runs in the fifth frame as Lady Bulldog winning pitcher Livia Ramirez smacked a two-run double.
Elida tacked on one more run in the top of the seventh inning to provide the final margin.
The Bulldogs out-hit Bluffton, 7-4. Ramirez collected three hits and two runs batted in. Teammate Lacie Moening contributed a double.
Pirates Ashley Fleece and Lauren Bassett each cranked a double. Addie Basinger and Olivia Matthews both added a single.

Bluffton entertains Lima Central Catholic Thursday, April 7, in another non-conference contest.
The visiting Bluffton baseball team defeated Upper Scioto Valley 4-2 Monday evening.
The Pirates improved to 1-4 with the non-league win. USV fell to 3-3 with the loss.
Bluffton hosts former Northwest Conference foe LCC Thursday, April 7.
Defisnce edged visiting Bluffton 3-2 in boys tennis Monday evening.
The Pirates play at Napoleon Wednesday, April 6.
