Take Back the Night event April 8
Bluffton University’s PEACE club invites members of the community to attend its Shatter the Silence march at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8 at the Sommer Center, followed by speaking out against sexual assault.
The event is a night of solidarity in the tradition of the Take Back The Night Foundation, which strives to bring awareness to issues of sexual assault through events. Learn more here: https://takebackthenight.org/
Take Back the Night Foundation stands with people from all walks of life. The organization estimates that
- 1 in 3 women worldwide experience some form of sexual violence or intimate partner violence.
- 1 in 6 men experience sexual violence.
- 2 in 3 transgender people have been sexually assaulted.
- People in the LGBTQIA+ community are more likely to experience sexual violence.
- Less than 50% of victims report these crimes.
