Bluffton girls whitewash McComb, 11-0

The Bluffton High School varsity softball team won handily at McComb 11-0 Tuesday evening, April 12.
Bluffton hurler Hannah Davis tossed a six-inning one-hitter to earn her second victory this spring. The Lady Pirates scored one run in the second inning to take the early lead. They then plated five runs in the third frame to build a 6-0 lead.
Bluffton scored two runs in the fourth and added three more in the sixth to invoke the 10-run rule.
The Pirate girls improved to 2-4 with the non-league win, their second in a row. Lauren Swartzlander tripled home two runs to pace the Bluffton offense. Pirates Lauren Bassett and Olivia Hobensack each collected two hits and a run batted in. Sophie Bricker singled twice. Olivia Matthews drove in two runs with a single, and Riley Busch added a hit. Davis also rapped out one hit for the victors.
Shellenberg had the only hit for McComb. Bluffton out-hit the Panthers, 10-1.

Bluffton visits local rival Ada (2-4, 0-1 NWC) in a Northwest Conference battle Thursday, April 14.
