Pirate golfers challenged Vikings at Colonial Hills

The Bluffton High School golf team split a Northwest Conference tri-match at Colonial Hills Golf Course Wednesday evening, September 14.

League-leading Leipsic won with 172 strokes, followed closely by the Pirates (179) and host Allen East (199).

Bluffton was led by Jaden Coonfare, who shot a 42. Eli Wenger carded a 44, while Evan Speicher registered a 46. Jacob Boisvert contributed a 47 to finish out the Pirate scorers.

Aidan Sponsler and Logan Combs each posted a round of 50.

Viking Brevin Brandt earned match medalist honors with a round of 39. Bluffton improved to 13-4 overall and 10-3 in league play with the results. Leipsic improved to 25-3 overall and 14-1 in league action with the wins. AE fell to 4-7 in the NWC with the losses.

Bluffton faces AE and two other NWC foes Thursday at Hickory Sticks Golf Course.

The Pirates then compete in an eight-team event on Saturday afternoon.
