BLUFFTON, OH – The Bluffton University women's soccer team notched a 2-1 victory over Earlham College on a windy Wednesday, Oct. 12.
The Beavers improved to 3-8-1 overall (2-3 HCAC) while the Quakers fell to 3-6-2 (1-4 HCAC).
Earlham netted a shot just over two minutes into the match to take an early 1-0 lead. Junior Katelyn Burden (Sidney) found the back of the net on a bouncer she served up from near midfield in minute 29 to tie the match 1-1 going into the half. Evie Masters (Arcadia/Van Buren) would round out the scoring and secure the 2-1 victory when she hit paydirt with less than three minutes to play, assisted by Emma White's (St. Marys/Memorial) face.
Bluffton keeper Brielle Collier (Anna) tallied two saves in the victory. Powering the Beaver offense was Taylor Dye (Big Prairie/West Holmes) with three shots, two on goal. Jordan Jennings (Portsmouth/Wheelersburg) and Madison Ellerbrock (Leipsic/Miller City) fired two shots apiece.
The Beavers outshot the Quakers 12-8 (7-3 on goal). Both teams forced five corner kicks, but the Quakers were whistled for two more fouls (4-2).
The women are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 16, when Rose-Hulman comes to town for a Senior Day and Homecoming weekend matchup. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
