Men's and women's Beavers golf recap for Alice Lloyd Invitational
RICHMOND, Ky.--The Bluffton University men's golf team was all over it on Sunday, March 26, firing a school-record 295 at the Battlefield Golf Club. The Beavers broke the previous 18-hole mark by seven strokes and finished the Alice Lloyd Invitational in 5th place with a 622. Bluffton's 295 was the second-lowest team score of the weekend.
Senior Dominic Castelvetere (Ontario) shaved 10 strokes off his Saturday score, shooting a one over par 71 which gave him a team-best 152 for the weekend. The 71 tied Castelvetere for 6th all-time at Bluffton for 18 holes. Nathan Eberle (Grove City) was just one stroke back with a 153 following a 73 on Saturday. They finished 12th and 14th, respectively.
Clay Quellhorst (St. Marys/Memorial) finished with a 155, Evan Kujawa (Toledo/Whitmer) a 162 and Nick Offenburger (Lexington) used an 81 on day two to cap the tournament with a 171.
The Beavers will be home for the Bluffton Invite at Hidden Creek on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2.
Women's results
The Bluffton University women's golf team shot its 2nd-lowest 18-hole score (341) in school history on Sunday, March 26, 2023! The Beavers claimed 6th place after finishing with a 698 at the Alice Lloyd Invitational. The 698 is 4th all time for 36 holes.
Senior Haley Gill (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) led the Beavers with an 80 on day two, giving her a total of 172 for the weekend. Her 80 is tied for 5th on the all-time 18-hole scoring list at Bluffton. Sophomore Kiley Cline (Fostoria/Hopewell Louden) bested Gill by a single stroke for the weekend (86-85) thanks to her consistent scoring.
Sophomores Allie Waggener (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) and Shelby Stammen (Fort Recovery) checked in at 175 and 180, respectively, while freshman Sara Kroeger (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) rounded out the weekend with a 191.
The Beavers jump right back into action on Saturday, April 1, at Hidden Creek Golf Course for the Bluffton Invite.
