Lions gear up for 9th annual Ride to Remember on July 15
By Paula Scott
There is less than one month until the 9th annual Ride to Remember, the Bluffton Lions event that celebrates and raises funds for cycling (and pedestrian) pathways in Bluffton. The July 15 event is prepared to provide the first 275 registered riders with gifts from local businesses as well as a lunch coupon.
Committee chairman Travis Music tells riders, “Excitement is building on our end, we’re hammering out some details, so we can provide you with a great and enjoyable route. One of the things that is new this year is the Ramseyer Challenge…. We have three routes: 63, 27 and 34. If you put it all together, it’s 124 miles, which equals a double metric century. It’s a good challenge, it’s a flat course, it’s northwest Ohio, so it’s probably going to be windy…. we don’t have hills but we have wind.” (Facebook video HERE.)
New this year, the event is not starting at the BFR; the start is across the street at Bluffton Community church (formerly The Centre), where the parking lot is much bigger. Music comments that if you ride the three loops, you will come back to the parking lot each time, where you can refuel or access things you need from your vehicle.
Music also announced that there will be Powergel shots in the swag bags, and Powerade at rest stops.
The final message from the committee: “Get registered. We love to know our numbers, which helps us prepare.”
