P-G boys basketball takes an easy win from USV
By Matt M. Stutz
The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball team stretched their win streak to five games on February 10 when they hosted and easily defeated the Upper Scioto Valley Rams, 72-37, in non-league action.
USV jumped ahead 2-0 to start and it proved to be the lone highlight of the night for the Rams. The Rockets promptly tied it up and were then cleared for take-off. From there P-G led the entirety of the game, stretching their lead out to almost forty points at one point, ushering in a running clock.
The Rockets posted their highest first half scoring output of the season, as they poured in forty-five points, leading 45-19 at the halftime break. They then stretched the lead even further, 63-28 by the end of the third quarter.
As a team, the Rockets got hot from behind the arc, knocking down ten 3-pointers from five different players.
A balanced scoring attack, with four reaching double figures, was led by Aiden Harris’s game high 21 points. Colin Harris and Owen Huffman each added 11 points, as Harris canned three trifectas while Huffman hit one. Nate Maag tallied 10 points, all coming in the middle two quarters of play. Zach Neuenschwander chipped in with 7 points, swishing two from behind the arc. Cam Verhoff came off the bench to drain a three pointer in the second and third periods for a total of 6 points. Nate Walker and Adam Buell each hit a fourth quarter shot for their two points apiece.

P-G (18-2, 7-1 BVC, 6-0 PCL) will again be in action on Saturday February 17, when they travel to Fort Jennings for a Putnam County League battle. A P-G win would clinch at least a share of the title with one game remaining.
