Jolene D. Oxender was a medical technologist
Jolene D. Oxender, 69, passed away August 18, 2024 at the Meadows of Ottawa. Jolene was born June 30, 1955 in Millersburg, Ohio to Dennis and Mary Grace (Conkle) Miller. On August 14, 1976 she married Denny Oxender and he survives.
Jolene graduated from Sugarcreek High School and Bluffton College in biology. She was a medical technologist at Blanchard Valley Hospital and Lima Memorial Hospital in the 1980s and 1990s. Jolene was also a substitute teacher and aide at Findlay City and Bluffton Schools. In the past, she worked at the Bluffton quilt store and volunteered at the Bluffton Et Cetera Shop. Most recently, she worked at Stratton Greenhouse. Jolene was an avid gardener, quilter and reader. She loved animals and enjoyed raising and showing chickens.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Grace Miller of Walnut Creek, Ohio; her husband, Denny Oxender of Bluffton; a son, Luke (Becca) Oxender of Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin; a brother, Errol (Kathy) Miller of Nashua, New Hampshire; two nieces, Kalina (Isaiah) Schloneger of Medford, Massachusetts, Kendra Huber of Aurora, Colorado and a nephew, Kyle Smith of Arvada, Colorado.
Jolene was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Miller: a sister, Cathy Smith and a niece, Victoria Miller.
Jolene's memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton with Pastor David Glick officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Putnam County Hospice.
