Pirate boys soccer blanks Spartans

LIMA __ The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team shut out Lima Senior 4-0 in a non-conference match Thursday evening, September 19, at Spartan Stadium.
Pirate Gavin Amstutz scored two goals to pace the offense to victory. Levi Antrim contributed a goal and one assist to the winning effort.
The Pirate record improved to 5-6 overall with the road victory. Lima Senior fell to 3-3-1 after the defeat.
Bluffton led 2-0 at halftime and tallied two more scores after intermission to win going away.
Amstutz scored the game’s first goal off an Antrim assist in the 15th minute.
Antrim then tallied in the 24th minute off a feed from Ty Huffman to give Bluffton a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the 62nd minute, Isaiah Kohli found the back of the net off a pass from Ollie Combs to provide a 3-0 cushion.
Amstutz then netted his second goal three minutes later from a Jackson Brauen pass to build the final margin to 4-0.
Bluffton peppered the Spartan keeper, with 19 of their 35 shots being directed on goal. LS mustered only four shots, two of which were on goal.
For the second match in a row, Pirate keepers Alex Davis and Emmitt Kidd each recorded one save. The Spartan keeper made 15 stops.
The first-place Pirates (2-0 NWC) visit struggling Northwest Conference rival Lima Central Catholic (1-8, 0-2 NWC) Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. Spencerville (2-1 NWC) is second in the league standings behind Bluffton, which continues its quest to repeat again as conference champions.
