Pirate girls soccer shut out by unbeaten Celtics

BLUFFTON _ The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost 6-0 to visiting big school power Dublin Jerome on Thursday, October 10, in the regular season finale at Steinmetz Field.
The Pirate record dropped to 10-5-1 after the non-conference defeat.
The Celtics improved to 13-0-3 with the victory.
Ella Sobczak scored first in the 31st minute for Jerome to break up a scoreless tie. Natalie Hoovert netted their second goal two minutes later.
The game was 2-0 at the half. Lila Kindl stretched the margin to 3-0 by scoring five minutes into the second half.
Celtic Marin Lynch made it 4-0 in the 49th minute, followed by a Kaelyn Adams goal 10 minutes later. Alexis Smith added the last goal in the 79th minute to provide the final margin.
Bluffton directed two of its three shots on goal.
DJ got off a whopping 38 shots, and 23 were on goal.
Pirate goalkeeper Kynzie Ewing made 17 saves, while the DJ keeper was credited with two saves.
The Pirate girls fell to 5-2 at home after the defeat.
The Pirates were seeded fourth in their tough eight-team Div. V sectional drawing Sunday. Bluffton hosts sixth-seeded local rival Allen East (7-8-1) in the first round of tournament play Tuesday, October 15 at 6 p.m.
The winner advances to face the Riverdale/Cory-Rawson victor Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the semifinals at Steinmetz Field. The Falcons (10-3-2) are seeded first, and C-R (3-12-1) is eighth.
