Rockets boys basketball loses to Miller City

The Pandora-Gilboa High School boy’s basketball team hosted Putnam County League rival Miller City on January 7.
The physical Wildcats owned the first three quarters of play and grounded the Rockets by a final of 78-47. Miller City upped their record to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the PCL.
The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead to start the game and never trailed. The Rockets eventually found themselves down 21-11 at the end of the first quarter and then 41-21 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Miller City stretched their lead out to 69-36, heading into the final eight minutes.
Senior Lane Lee led the Rockets in scoring with 12 points, connecting on two 3-pointers, while Cam Verhoff added 10 points. Cory Gerten nailed down three 3-pointers for a total of 9 points.
Chase Meyer and Adam Buell both dropped in 3 points as Austin Maag and Grady Kempf each hit a fourth quarter 3-pointer as they also finished with 3 points each. Layton Canode and Jack Buell closed out the scoring as they each finished with 2 points.

Miller City also won the JV game, 47-19.
Looking ahead on the schedule, P-G (5-5, 3-1 BVC, 0-2 PCL) will host McComb this Friday night January 10th for a Blanchard Valley Conference showdown. The JV game will tip off at 4:30pm; an hour and a half earlier than normal.
