New Master of Nutrition and Dietetics tracks announced
Bluffton University announcement
Bluffton University students can now follow two specialized tracks to earning their Master of Nutrition and Dietetics (MND). The two specialized tracks include eating disorders or sports nutrition. These two tracks will allow Bluffton University students to gain specific knowledge in two growing fields of nutrition and dietetics.
“At Bluffton University you can complete all coursework to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in five years, obtaining both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics,” said Bethany Dario, director of nutrition and dietetics. “Within these degreed programs students can elect to narrow their studies in two tracks, sports nutrition or eating disorders. This educational focus better prepares students by offering them opportunities to engage in supervised learning experiences within their specialization.”
The eating disorders track will focus on theory, best practices, research methods, seminars, workshops and clinical observation sessions focused on eating disorder prevention and treatment. Students in this track will have increased supervised experiential learning hours at eating disorder sites.
Students pursuing the sports nutrition track will focus on prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illness through nutrition intervention. Students in this track will have increased supervised experiential learning hours at sports nutrition sites.
“Through our nationally accredited nutrition and dietetics program, Bluffton University will significantly help the health and wellness field with the addition of these two new MND tracks,” said Claire Kleman, interim vice president of advancement and enrollment management. “With the interest and demand of both sports nutrition and eating disorders on the rise, there is no better time to add these tracks for our MND students.”
