William "Bill" J. Steiner was a teacher
William "Bill" J. Steiner, 81, passed away February 15, 2025, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
William "Bill" was born September 4, 1943 in Bluffton, to Wilford and Mabel (Herr) Steiner who preceded him in death. On August 24, 1968 he married Joan (Kilper) Steiner who survives.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of Bluffton High School. He then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Bluffton College and received his master's degree from Ball State University. He worked diligently as a teacher for Lorraine Local Schools and Wapakoneta Local Schools. He was a life-long member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, where he had served on multiple committees. He was also involved with the Ohio Business Teachers Association, S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club, and the Wapakoneta Education Association. He loved taking care of his farm and his woods.
He was survived by his wife, Joan Steiner of Bluffton; two sons, Ross (Beth) Steiner of Wapakoneta and Matt (Kelly) Steiner of Fishers, IN; four grandchildren, Charlie and Lia Steiner of Fishers, IN and Maggie and Lilly Steiner of Wapakoneta; two nieces, Shaunna (Tommy) Sibbons and Andrea (Cory) Axness of Glendale, AZ; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Steiner.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton with Pastors David Glick and Dick Potter to officiate the service. Burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18, 2025, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Mennonite Church: Youth Fund or Christian Education.
