Bluffton High School track teams sweeps first meet
Both Bluffton High School boys and girls won their track season opener at Delphos Jefferson last Tuesday. After the relay meet at Waynesfield Goshen that was scheduled for Saturday was cancelled, the Pirates were more ready than ever to begin competition.
The girls gathered 77.5 points, beating Allen East with 58.50 points and Jefferson with 34. It is worth noting, however, that the Jefferson girls were not all competing, as some were just coming off a state qualifying basketball season. They will once again be the sprinting team to beat this year after setting records in the 4x100 and 4x200 at the NWC meet last May.
The boys had a slightly closer, yet still dominating victory. They scored 72.50 points. Allen East was second with 56 and Delphos Jefferson third with 45.50. Many of the freshman boys demonstrated potential with participation in the relays, while the solid core of upperclassmen tried their hands (or feet!) at some different events.
