Girl Scout journey in Bluffton: Little school house on the Black Swamp
Bluffton's Girl Scout Service Unit announces a new "Girl Scout Journey" to celebrate Bluffton's 150 year anniversity.
According to Wendy Chappell-Dick: This new troop is coming together to learn survival techniques of the early pioneers - how did they farm, wash, cook, dance, play and dress?
"We will make our own pioneer costumes and participate in several Community Sesquicentennial events- leading games and songs at a historic schoolhouse June 26 and riding in the parade July 2.
"This is the perfect chance for girls K-3rd grade to experience Scouting even if they aren't in a troop during the school year. All new and current Girl Scouts are invited to join us Mondays and Wednesdays at 2pm for the weeks of June.
"We'll meet at the Buckeye Park Shelterhouse for about an hour and a half. Registration forms will be available at our first meeting June 6. Can't come to all the sessions? No worries- just come when you can. Each one stands alone."
Troop leaders are Gail Clingerman, Sarah Bergstrand and Wendy Chappell-Dick- 419-303-9769
