Bruce Edward Downey 1946-2011
Bruce Edward Downey, 65, of Put-in-Bay, Ohio, and Las Vegas, Nev., died at 9:17 a.m. July 14, 2011 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, following a sudden illness. He was born on March 5, 1946 in Lima to Marion and Mary Elizabeth Amstutz Downey.
Bruce retired from the Lucas County Housing Authority, and had also worked for the State of Ohio and British Petroleum. He was a 1964 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School, Stautzenberger College, Toledo, and served in the Marine Corps Reserves.
Survivors include a daughter, Heather Downey of Venice, Calif., a son, Jason Downey of Los Angeles, Calif., a sister, Barbara (Chuck) Runyan of Carmel, Ind., and three brothers, Timothy (Debra) Downey of Bowling Green, Steve (Chris) Downey and Lance (Elizabeth) Downey both of Lima, and special friend, Jody Bisel of Mansfield.
A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. Michael Downey will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or plant a tree in his memory at arborday.org. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
