Sexual behavior topic of Bluffton Forum

Carlin Carpenter, assistant professor emeritus of health, physical education and recreation at Bluffton University, will discuss sexual behavior in a Bluffton Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Founders Hall. The forum, aimed at students as part of the university's yearlong focus on public health and wellness, is free and open to the public.

Carpenter, who holds a degree in psychology and biology from Defiance College and a master's degree from Ohio University, said he hopes to provide insight into students' "present and future sexual behavior as it relates to their overall physical and psychological health."

The Nelsonville, Ohio, native was Bluffton's athletic director and head football coach for 24 years, taking the football team to the NAIA national playoffs in 1987 and 1988. From 1985-90, his teams compiled a 44-13 record and were nationally ranked each year. The 1985, 1987 and 1988 Beavers have been inducted into Bluffton's Athletics Hall of Fame, as has Carpenter.

The Navy veteran is also an accomplished motivational speaker, storyteller, humorist and guitarist who has appeared in cities including Dallas, New Orleans and Nashville, where he spoke and performed at the Grand Ole Opry hotel.
