The Board of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) has announced the sale of the Hilty Home building, 304 Hilty Dr., to the Village of Pandora, Ohio. The sale was completed on June 4 and includes the 60,000-square-foot former Hilty Memorial Home building and two adjacent parcels of land donated to the Village by MHCO.

Some significant changes are coming for vaccines including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), flu and COVID-19. 

On May 3, 2023, the FDA approved the GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) RSV vaccine with the brand name of Arexvy.  The vaccine was approved for those 60 years of age and up to prevent RSV lower lung infection.  The GSK vaccine is a recombinant subunit of prefusion RSV F glycoprotein antigen (RSVPreF3) with an adjuvant to enhance vaccine response.

The Village of Bluffton has scheduled the following public meetings. Unless noted otherwise, they take place at Bluffton Town Hall.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its June breakfast meeting at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14. The meeting takes place on the 3rd floor of Bluffton Town Hall. The next chamber breakfast is in September.

The 7:30 a.m. program will include presentations by the ONU Center for Corporate Engagement, Bluffton Beyond Tomorrow and Village of Bluffton Safety Services.

Carol Turchick, Director and Mandy Glenn, Associate Director will join us to speak about the Center for Corporate Engagement and the types of services and training they offer to the business community.

A repeat presentation and Q&A session will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18

Ballot Issue proposed for increased Safety Services funding

On Monday, June 10, Bluffton Council held a special and a regular meeting at the EMS building to provide information and answer questions about a proposed Village income tax increase that would help grow Safety Services funding. Council is preparing to put an additional 0.4% income tax on the November 5 ballot “for the purpose of generating revenue for the capital needs and operations of … Bluffton EMS, Bluffton Fire and Bluffton Police Departments.”

The Bluffton Lions Club Festival of Wheels will fill downtown Bluffton on Friday, June 14, closing Main St. and adjacent parts of Vine, Cherry and Church streets. Participants will begin parking their cars at 1:00 p.m. and will wrap up the show with a cruise down Main St. at 8:00 p.m.

Pandora __ Larry Hoffman, EVP, Chief Financial Officer at First National Bank is retiring effective June 30, 2024. Larry began his career with First National Bank at the Pandora office in 2011.

Hoffman has 44 total years of accounting  experience, which includes 13 years of public accounting as a Senior Accountant for  Fruth & Company, CPAs and 18 years in higher education as Controller/Assistant Treasurer at Rhodes State College. Larry and his wife, Marcy, reside in Bluffton and have  3 children, Ellie, Nolan, and Ethan.

Larry has served on many community boards  including Bluffton Soccer Club, Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, Bluffton School Board and St. Mary’s Church and plans to continue his involvement in community service organizations in retirement.
