The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for LuvU A Latte on Wednesday, May, 1 at 6:00 p.m.

The event will take place at 851 St Rt 103, Bluffton, near SR 103 and east of I-75.

Luvu A Latte, owned by Steve and Lisa Rains, is a drive-through coffee shop. It specializes in coffee blends from the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. The shop will also serve fresh donuts and pastries, real fruit smoothies and protein drinks.

The Luvu A Latte Facebook page says the shop will open on Thursday, May 2. Hours of operation are not yet posted.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join in this opportunity to welcome Luvu A Latte to Bluffton.

Three youth will be confirmed in the Christian faith on Sunday, May 5 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera, in the 10:30 a.m. service.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has a new educational partnership with Purdue Global, providing BVHS associates and their families tuition discounts on a variety of programs.

The Gingerbread Squad of Jaime Combs, Heidi Steiner, Ryan Dunlap, and Missy Smith won $1,500 for Bluffton Elementary School in the Health Action Council Healthy Kids Spring Step It Up Challenge. These top steppers averaged 809,363 steps.

The Swiss Community Historical Society will hold its Spring Meeting on Sunday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Patio Room at Maple Crest. Gary Wetherill will give a presentation on the native people who lived in Ohio prior to settlers arriving in in the late 1700s. 

Bluffton University recognized its top students for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum on April 23.

Four seniors received departmental honors for independent-study projects: 

“Everyday Nutrition and its Effects on the Eyes,” by Brooke Barnes, a biology major from Shelby, Ohio

“Who Am I,” by art major Kelly Bilen of Archbold, Ohio

“Gerda and Kay,” by writing major Abby Bush from Marion, Ohio

“Earphone Epidemic?: Prevalence of Earphone Use and Listening Behaviors Among Students,” by MacKenzie Martin, a speech-language pathology and audiology major from Hartville, Ohio

Six seniors were recognized for completion of the Honors Program.

Apollo Career Center has issued this AGENDA for the regular board meeting scheduled for Monday, April 29, 2024, at 7 p.m.  The meeting will be held in Apollo's Board room.

The Lima Symphony Orchestra has been selected as one of thirty orchestras nationwide to participate in a program premiering and programming works by women composers. The LSO will program the work by composer Chelsea Komschlies.
