BLUFFTON__Sharpshooting Bluffton junior guard Marek Donaldson was voted first team All-District 8 for Divisions I-II-III by the district boys basketball coaches association recently. 

On Wednesday, February 28, Pastor Samuel Johnson from Abiding Word Lutheran Church, Bowling Green, will be the guest pastor at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera. 

James E. Johnson, 80, of Lakeview, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Lakeland Good Sheperd Hospice, in Lakeland, Florida. He was born June 6, 1943, in Bluffton Ohio, to the late Ruth Hartman.

Richard ‘Dick’ Ray Warren went to his heavenly home on Friday, February 9, 2024 from his residence in Punta Gorda, Fl. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on September 5, 1934 to Westley and Elizabeth (Parks) Warren. Dick was the youngest of eight siblings. All have preceded him in death.

Due to COVID-19, Elton John suspended his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in 2020. During the pandemic, he formed collaborations with other artists including Dua Lipa. They did an upbeat remix titled Cold Heart, which hit number 1 in 12 countries. 

Elizabeth Ann Raid, 79, of Newton, Kansas passed away on February 21, 2024, in her home. She was born on June 19, 1944, in central Missouri to Howard and Pauline Krehbiel Raid.

PAULDING__The visiting Bluffton High School girls basketball team led for much of the game, but ultimately lost a 50-49 heartbreaker to former league foe Paulding in Div. III sectional first round play Thursday night, February 22.

CANTON– Two Bluffton High School swimmers competed in the preliminary round of the Div. II OHSAA meet Thursday evening, February 22, at Canton’s C.T. Branin Natatorium, with one advancing to a pair of B Finals races Friday.  

Pirate sophomore Jackson Bowlus turned in a pair of solid showings to advance to the secondary finals Friday.

The Pandora-Gilboa High School boy’s basketball team completed their 2023-24 regular season Thursday night February 22, with the undefeated Putnam County League title as they completely overwhelmed the Continental Pirates by a final of 59-19.
