Freed Center Pre-Show Dinner Buffett

On May 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., enjoy an exceptional dinner buffet before the presentation of Oklahoma! at the Freed Center. The buffet dinner is $25 per person including tax and gratuity.

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library have extended the registration deadline for the third annual Community Garage Sale, which will be held on May 19, 20, and 21.

Maps highlighting individual sale locations, a list of addresses with sale descriptions, media coverage, and classified advertising will be coordinated by the Friends.

To appear on the map and list, participants must register by Friday, May 6, 2011. The Friends need a minimum of 20 participants for this event.

April was wet. According to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, it not only rained 25 out of 30 days in April, the total rain measured 6.22 inches. That compares to 3.29 normal inches of rain for April.

Looking on the good side, April 2011's average temperature was 50. 4 degrees. The normal April average temperature is 48.5 degrees.

April's highest temperature reached 74 degrees on the 11th and 23rd. The low was 28 degrees on April 1 and 3.

Bluffton Public Library has just the ticket for fun and relaxation.The library is holding two fundraisers related to this year's adult summer reading theme, "Novel Destinations."

The first event is a silent auction that will be held from May 16 through June 4. Over 30 items will be available to bid on, including historic bed and breakfast locations in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana; a river cruise; a Tennessee amusement park; a West Virginia whitewater raft trip; and area festivals, gardens, historic homes, museums and much more.

The Mennonite Memorial Home is needing a volunteer to fill birdfeeders. Residents have a variety of feeders placed around the building and the birds' appetite require a weekly filling.

This volunteer opportunity is once-a-week and takes only 1/2 to 1 hour. The volunteering will begin immediately and the volunteer will be trained. If you would like to fill the MMH bird feeders, please call Mary Ann Ring at 419-358-1015.

That term, creeping into conversations, will be explored in a free open to the public workshop Friday, May 13, co-sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce and Bluffton Centre for Entrepreneurs. The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about social media. The workshop is particularly aimed at businesses.
